Built in 1864, the famous Cubbon park is located near Gandhi Nagar in Bangalore. The park was constructed by the then viceroy of Bangalore, Sir Mark Cubbon and was hence named after him as Cubbon park. Sir Richard Sankey engineered the Cubbon park with such finesse that it serves as one of the prime tourist attractions in Bangalore. The park spreads over an area of 250 acres and houses many key buildings in Bangalore. It is most liked by joggers and walkers. Cubbon park is adorned with a number of fountains, a variety of exotic flora and a massive bandstand. The buildings that the park houses includes the famous Vidhan Soudha, The Public Library, the High Court, the Cheshire Dyer Memorial Hall, the Government Museum, Children's amusement park, Ottawa Chatter, Dolls museum, etc. Cubbon park is so big and beautiful that its existence has inspired people to call Bangalore, the 'Garden City' of India. The park looks all the more beautiful in the evenings when the fountains are lit. Cubbon Park is definitely a must watch site in Bangalore.
