Vidhan Soudha
Home | Bangalore Attractions | Vidhan Soudha
The architectural marvel was built way back in 1956, under the direction of the then chief minister of Karnataka, Mr. Kengal Hanumanthaiah. The building was primarily constructed with a view to pay tribute to the Indian Temple Architecture, and now houses the legislative assembly of the state of Karnataka. Vidhan Soudha accommodates approximately twenty-two departments of the state government. With its imposing structure, more than 300 odd rooms, and a height of almost 46 m, Vidhan Soudha catches attention of tourists from all across the world. The architecture of the Vidhan Soudha vaunts the fine neo Dravidian style. The building is purely constructed of granite and porphyry. Vidhan Soudha is adorned with four domes on its four corners. The entrance of the building is beautified with the Four-headed Lion, the national symbol of India. The Cabinet room welcomes guests with its colossal and intricately carved sandalwood door. The building offers access from all the four directions only to people who take prior permission. Vidhan Soudha is a must watch site in Bangalore and missing on it will surely render your tour incomplete.
