Karaga festival is a holy festival celebrated in the city of Bangalore. In this Karaga, the name given to clay pots symbolizing power(Shakti) are carnied by devotees on their heads in a procession that ends at Sampangi tank, where the pots are finally soused in water.

'Ugadi' is derived from the word 'Yuga Aadi' which means beginning or start of a new age. Ugadi festival is merrily celebrated all across the city of Bangalore in the second half of the month of March or in the beginning of the month of April. The festival signifies the advent of new year and the spring season with vivid colorful florets, lush green fields, chirping birds all indicating a new beginning.
