Varamahalakshmi is a customary Puja held every year in the month of August. On this day Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped by married females all across the state of Karnataka. It is believed that by offering valuables and other precious things to the goddess of money, women try to seek blessings and good luck for their family and business.After the performance of the puja, they offer vermilion (kum-kum) to at least five other married ladies. The festival is celebrated with great fun and reverence and emanates a delightful charm. People from far and near come to Bangalore to become a part of this Pooja.
