Bannerghatta National Park is a beautiful wildlife park situated at a short distance of 21 kms from the Bangalore city. It is one of the famous and enthralling picnic spots around the city and most liked by children. Bannerghatta national park was established in the year 1971 and spreads over an area of 104 sq. km. The park houses a myriad range of exotic flora and fauna and most known for its lion and tiger safari. The variety of fauna found in the forest includes elephants, panthers, bisons, lions, etc, while the flora comprises of neem, tamarind, zizyphus, jalari, chujjullu, sandal, etc. The national park also houses a pet's corner and a museum that vaunts a rich collection of age old flora and information about the exquisite fauna of the region. Ten reserve forests of Anekal Range of the Bangalore Forest Division come under this national park. The park also houses a distinct butterfly park that homes around 20 species of exotic butterflies. The park spreads over an area of 7.5 acres, and also comprises of a museum and an audio-visual room. The butterfly park flaunts a tropical setting, with humid climate and an artificial waterfall. The flora of the conservatory includes those plants and shrubs that attract butterflies. Inside the park there also exists a museum that keeps dioramas and other exclusive exhibits. So, we can say that Bannerghatta National park is an apt place for nature lovers. The variety of plants, animals one can find here is simply outstanding and one of its kind. The park is so alluring that a visit to it not only mandatory but also indispensible.
