Situated at a short distance of 53 kms from the city of Bangalore, Karnataka Folk Museum is an enticing place to visit. Run by Karnataka Janapada Trust, the museum spreads over an area of 15 acres. Karnataka folk museum was set up to promote the diverse folk life of Karnataka. One of the major attractions of Karnataka Folk Museum is its rich and diversified collection of Karnataka folk music and videotapes of folk dances. Other items exhibited in the museum comprise of colorful artifacts, costumes, masks, etc. Besides these, the intricately carved temple chariot displayed in the museum is one of the major crowd puller of the museum. The museum underwent a fire accident that caused damages to it, however it still retains much of its pristine glory. Antiquated stone carvings are also exhibited at the Karnataka Folk Museum. The other buildings inside the complex include a college, dedicated to folk life and a recording studio with latest equipments. The museum is a worth watching site in Bangalore and will certainly entices you if you are a history lover.
